Over the years spyware has become a bigger and bigger problem for most computer users. Everything from poor performance to stolen personal information has been caused by spyware. This is why it is important to do something about these nasty little programs siting on your computer. Today we will take a look at adware spyware removal.

Do You Have Spyware

Over time many people find that their computer has become slower and more unstable. This may be a sign that your computer may have spyware. Another common sign is many pop ups on your computer. People who have spyware or adware on their computer will often get frequent pop ups. In many cases you may have pop ups even when you are not surfing the Internet at all.

The good news is that you can get rid of this spyware with some spyware adware removal software. This can be as simple as downloading the sfoware and letting it scan your computer. Once the software is done scanning it will come up with a list of the software on your computer that may be harming your machine. It should be noted that not all of the stuff it picks up is bad. Only some of the software it picks up would be considered harmful. It is up to you to figure out what should not be on your machine from this list.

Once you do have some good spyware removal software you should scan regularly. At least once a week would be a good idea. For many it may even be a better idea to have your PC scanned once per day. You should be able to set things up so that the software will scan automatically at the time you assign it to do so. A great example of this is how I have my PC scan for spyware and viruses every night while I am off to sleep.

Another thing you should be aware of is the need to keep your spyware software up to date. There are always new spyware and viruses coming out. The only way you can protect yourself against these new spyware programs is to keep your spyware protection up to date.

Do I have a Virus on My Computer

According to most PC magazines 80% of all computers have spyware on them.  While this is true the thing they don’t mention is most of these programs are benign.  That means the vast majority of these programs really do nothing to harm your computer.  In fact many of these programs such as games come installed on PCs right from the store.

You still need to make sure you are not infected.Almost everyone using a free virus or spyware scanner program will find they are infected.  Free scanners do little to pre-vent the most common forms of spyware.  Read a bit more about some popular threats at on this Virtumonde Removal site or this Remove Vundo site.  Both sites provide some good detail on spyware and how it affects your computer.

You can still scan your PC for free using many free trial programs out there.  I’m not talking about using a junk client.  Check out the sites highlighted above for a free trial of Spyware Doctor. We really like this program.  It constantly wins awards and is normally rated 5 out of 5 by most experts.Like many other programs out there you can get a free 30 day trial to see if it's for you.  You really only need one day because the first scan will let you know if you have infections or not.  If not then don’t worry about it.  If you are infected with spyware then you need to take action.

Almost all programs provide a more info link on threats the scanner finds, click on it to see what that program does.  If you see a cookie as an infection and chances are you will don’t worry about it.  These are harmless little traces that do nothing.

Another good resource is this Vundo Removal Software
site. The blog is mostely about Vundo but does describe how many spyware aplications work.  Remember do not purchase any spyware software or virus software without getting some feedback on it.  The other thing to remember is no free client on the market provides enough protection.  Most of these programs do not give you protection.  It’s only after you have been infected that they kick in and by then it’s often too late.
